There’s a current gender inequality in STEM. There is an increasing ultimatum for STEM careers but a shortfall of students following STEM-related studies. Yet, STEM is catalytic for attaining the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They are important drivers for innovation, proposing new approaches and solutions to tackle existing and emerging challenges to sustainable development, inclusive growth and social well-being. The imbalance will remain the same when half the population is not being supported to engage in STEM. Thus, Improving participation for women and girls in STEM fields is crucial in building an inclusive, diverse and innovative workforce.
